HOW TO USE LISTPROC MAILING AND DISCUSSION LISTS

University students, faculty, and staff have access to a system for the creation and administration of electronic mailing and discussion lists. Discussion lists allow a large group of people to communicate via e-mail while cutting down on the maintenance time associated with personal address lists.

If you would like to create a new discussion list, please fill out the request form. All requests take 5 to 7 business days for completion. Student organizations must have the approval of a faculty advisor. Staff members must have the approval of their department head or supervisor.

You are responsible for maintaining your list. Read the Lisproc Owner's Guide and familiarize your self with the commonly-used Listproc commands. For more detailed information, see the Listproc documentation at CREN.net.

UIS also offers a training course on the Listproc system several times each semester. The course concentrates on the functions used by list owners and administrators.  For training, visit the page to register for a class called Using Listproc. You may wish to review the notes from Listproc training before (or after) attending class.
