GUMail: How to Install GUMail on a Palm based handheld using VersaMail
Before You Begin
These instructions assume:
- You have a wireless Palm OS handheld device
- Palm Treo 600 or 650
- Palm LifeDrive
- Palm Tungsten
- Palm TX
- The device supports VersaMail 2.7
- VersaMail 2.7 (or higher) is installed on the device
Note: The instructions apply only to accessing GUMail on a Palm PDA through a wireless Internet connection (e.g., Wi-Fi, cellular, Bluetooth), not synchronizing via a Hotsync.
Your Network option in Preferences should be set according to how you will be using your PDA to connect to the internet. For example, Tungsten C users should have their Network service set to "Wi-Fi" (this is the default setting). Other users may have their network setting set to GPRS.
If you are using Wi-Fi, be sure to set up a Wi-Fi connection. On the Tungsten C, this can be done using the Wi-Fi Setup application and entering HOYAS (all capitals) for the Network Name (SSID).
For information on AirHoya, Georgetown's Wi-Fi wireless network, see http://airhoya.georgetown.edu.
