How to use Thunderbird with GUMail: Assigning a Storage Location for Sent Mail

You can save your sent mail locally, or you can save it on the GUMail sever (see Understanding Local Mail for more information about this).

  1. Click on Tools, then click on Account Settings...
  1. This will bring up the Account Settings screen.

  1. Click on Copies & Folders.
  1. Make sure a checkmark appears beside Place a copy in: and make sure a dot appears beside "Sent" Folder on:.
  1. Click on the down arrow beside "Sent" Folder on:.
  • If you want to save your sent messages on the server, click on imap.georgetown.edu.
  • If you want to save your sent messages locally, click on Local Folders.
  1. Click on the OK button.
