How to use Thunderbird with GUMail: Restoring a Quarantined Mail Folder

Warning: Before you go any further, make absolutely sure that you have auto-protect file protection enabled in your Symantec AntiVirus program.

  1. Open Symantec AntiVirus.

  1. Click on the little plus sign (+) beside View, then click on Quarantine.
  1. Click on the file that you want to restore (it should have the name of your missing mail folder).
  1. Click on the restore button.
  1. Click on the Start Restore button.
  1. When the file has been restored, the status will change to succeeded.

  1. Click on the close button.
  1. After you restore your quarantined local mail folder, open each message in it.
  1. When you get to the infected one, the automatic file protection will pop up and quarantine your folder again.
  1. Now you know exactly which message is causing a problem.
  1. Restore the folder again.
  1. Delete the problem message (without opening it).
  1. Repeat this process until you've opened every message in the folder (more than one could be infected).
