How to use Thunderbird with GUMail: Missing Local Mail Folders

Some of my local mail folders have disappeared!

One or more of your local e-mail folders may have disappeared. Normally this is caused by a message that contains an attachment with a virus.

Symantec AntiVirus will quarantine any message that contains a virus. When this happens, the folder disappears from view.

When Symantec AntiVirus finds a file that's infected with a virus, it normally tries to fix or repair the file. If that doesn't work, it puts the file into a special quarantine folder so that no damage can be caused by the virus.

If you haven't installed SAV 9, and your local mail has disappeared, please contact your Help Desk.

What should I do?

You must change some settings in SAV 9, then make sure your automatic file protection is on, then you can restore the quarantined file. Finally, you should find the infected message and get rid of it.

Will this put me at risk from the virus that was quarantined?

No. As long as your automatic file protection is active, you will be safe.
