How to Use Thunderbird 3: Composing and Sending a Message
- In Thunderbird, click on the Write button in the toolbar.

A new mail composition window is displayed.
- In the To field, enter the e-mail address of each person (or mailing list) to whom you want to send mail. As you type, Thunderbird may autofill the address or recipient's name, depending on which one Thunderbird recognizes first. Thunderbird may also display multiple names, or a combination of names and e-mail addresses, to suggest possible correct entries.
In the example below, after typing "ui", Thunderbird displays multiple entries from the address book that matched the "ui" string.

To select any entry from the list, just click on that entry, as shown below.

The entry will appear in the To field.
- Enter a descriptive name in the Subject field for the subject of your message. The subject will also appear in the title bar, as highlighted in the example below.

- Type your message in the composition area.

- Add a file to your message, if desired.
- Click on the Send button when you're ready to send your message. (If you're not yet ready to send your message and want to save the contents, you can save your message as a draft.)

- If the following pop-up window appears, enter your NetID password (enter your NetID too if not already filled in), and then click OK to send the message.
