There are a number of ways you can add contacts to your Thunderbird address book:
Create a Contact Manually from Your Address Book

The Address Book window is displayed.

- Select the address book to which you want to add a contact, and then click on the New Contact button.
- In the New Contact window, enter your contact's full name, e-mail address, telephone number, mailing address, or any other relevant information for your contact. Click on the OK button when you're ready to add your contact to the address book.
Repeat step 3 for each contact you want to create.
All the contacts you create will be listed in your address book. (In this example, the contacts have been added to Personal Address Book.)

- Select Options from the Tools menu.
- In the Options window, click on Composition.
- In the Composition area, click on the Addressing tab.
- In the Addressing area, select the option Automatically add outgoing e-mail addresses to my:, and then select the address book to which you want the addresses to be added.

Adding a Contact to Your Address Book from an E-mail Message
You can easily add an e-mail address to your address book from any e-mail message.
- In Thunderbird, open the e-mail message that contains the e-mail address(es) you want to add to your address book. In the message header, you'll see a star icon next to each e-mail address that appears in the from and to fields.

- Move your mouse over the star icon next to the e-mail address you want to add to your address book. If the star is colored white, you will see the message "Add to Address Book".

- Click on the star icon. The star icon turns yellow.

- Perform steps 2 and 3 for each e-mail address you want to add.
The e-mail addresses are now in your address book.
