How to Use Microsoft Outlook 2007: Getting Your Mail

Note: Before you can use Outlook 2007, make sure you've first set up Outlook 2007 to work with GUMail.

  1. Log in to Outlook 2007.
  2. In Outlook 2007, click on the plus sign next to your IMAP mail folder (appears in the format "netid@georgetown.edu") to display your mail folders.

  3. Scroll down until you locate the Inbox listing, then click on the listing. Outlook 2007 will load and display your Inbox.

Note: If you want Outlook 2007 to open your Inbox each time you log in to Outlook 2007, you can change your Outlook startup folder.

Reading Your Messages

You can read your messages either in a separate window or in the Reading Pane (the pane should be displayed by default).

  • To read a message in a new Outlook window, double-click on the message.

  • To read a message in the Reading Pane, click on the message. If the Reading Pane is not displayed, select Reading Pane from the View menu and then choose whether you want the Reading Pane to appear to the right or at the bottom of your message listing.
