- Launch MS Outlook 2003.
- When in Outlook, select About Microsoft Office Outlook from the Help menu.

- In the About Microsoft Office Outlook window, make sure "SP3" is displayed, as shown in the following screen image:

- If you see "SP3", Outlook 2003 is configured to send mail in compliance with the GUMail security policies.
- If you don't see "SP3", please call the UIS Help Desk at (202) 687-4949 for detailed configuration instructions.

- Click on the OK button to close the window.

- Click on Tools. This will bring up a menu. Click on E-mail Accounts.

- The E-mail Accounts window will appear.

- Click on Add a new e-mail account, then click on the Next button.

- Click on IMAP, then click on the Next button.

- The Internet E-mail Settings window will come up. Fill in the following information:

- Next to Your Name, type your full name as you want it to appear in outgoing messages.
- Next to E-mail Address, type your e-mail address (your NetID followed by @georgetown.edu).
- Next to Incoming mail server (IMAP):
- If you are a faculty or staff member, type gumail.georgetown.edu.
- Next to Outgoing mail server (SMTP), type smtp.georgetown.edu.

- Make sure there is no checkmark next to Remember password, then click on the More Settings button.

- Click on the Outgoing Server tab.
- Click on My outgoing server requires authentication.
Note: A dot should appear beside the option Use same settings as my incoming mail server.
- Click on the Advanced tab.

- Under Incoming server, click on This server requires a secure connection (SSL).
Note: The number should change to 993.
- Under Outgoing server, click on This server requires a secure connection (SSL).
- Then click on the OK button.

- This will take you back to the Internet E-mail Settings window. Click on the Next button, then click on the Finish button in the window that comes up.

- Outlook will automatically try to connect to your mailbox. This may take a few seconds.
- When the log-in window comes up, type your University NetID and password.
- This will bring up your GUMail inbox.
