HOW TO USE OUTLOOK 2003 WITH GUMAIL: SETTING UP GUMAIL SPAM FILTERS

  1. Select Rules and Alerts from the Tools menu.

  1. Click on the New Rule button.

  1. Click on the circle next to Start from a blank rule so that a dot appears.
  2. In the area below Step 1: Select when messages should be checked, click on Check messages when they arrive so that it is highlighted.
  3. Click on the Next button.
  1. In the area below Step 1: Select condition(s), scroll down to find with specific words in the message header. Then click on the box next to it so that a check mark appears.

  1. In the area below Step 2: Edit the rule description (click an underlined value), click on the text specific words.

  1. In the Search Text pop-up window, type X-GU-Spam: Suspect in the blank field below Specify a word or phrase.
  2. Click on the Add button to add the term to the Search list.
  1. In the Search Text pop-up window, type X-GU-Spam: Positive in the blank field below Specify a word or phrase.
  2. Click on the Add button to add the term to the Search list.
  1. After you've added the second search term, you'll see "X-GU-Spam: Suspect" or "X-GU-Spam: Positive" displayed in the Search list area.
  2. Click OK.
  1. Click on the Next button in the Rules Wizard window.
  1. In the area below Step 1: Select action(s), click on the box next to move it to the specified folder so that a check mark appears.

  1. In the area below Step 2: Edit the rule description, click on the word specified.

  1. In the Rules and Alerts window, click on the Junk E-mail folder listing so that it is highlighted.
  2. Click on the OK button.
  3. Click on the Finish button in the Rules Wizard window.
  1. In the Rules and Alerts window, verify that 'X-GU-Spam: Suspect' or 'X-GU-Spam: Positive' is listed.
  2. Click on the Apply button.
  3. Click on the OK button.
