HOW TO USE OUTLOOK 2003 WITH GUMAIL: SETTING UP OUTLOOK TO USE THE GEORGETOWN DIRECTORY

1. Start Outlook. Select Tools from the top menu, then Select E-mail Accounts.

2.  The E-mail Accounts window will appear.

3. Select the Add a new directory or address book button, then click Next.

4. Select Internet Directory Service (LDAP) , then Click Next.

5. Beside Server Name, Enter directory.georgetown.edu

6. Select the More Settings button. This will open the Microsoft LDAP Directory window.

7. Select the Search tab at the top.

9. Under the Search Base box, Type dc=georgetown, dc=edu

10. Select the OK button to save your settings.

11. Select the Finish button to complete the installation of the GU Directory.

12. To use the GU Directory, Open Outlook 2003 and Compose a new e-mail. After Typing the recipient's first or last name (or portion of their name) in the To field, Select the Check Names icon. If the GU Directory is configured properly, a new window will open with a list of names that match the To field. Select the desired name to continue composing your message.

13. If there are more than 100 results in the directory lookup, your search will fail and you will be prompted to enter more information. For example, entering JOHN may yield too many results. You should enter JOHN SM or JOHN SMIT if you were trying to compose a message to John Smith.
