HOW TO USE OUTLOOK 2003 WITH GUMAIL: DELETING MESSAGES

Deleting messages
Undeleting messages
Permanently deleting (purging) messages

Deleting messages

  1. All you have to do to delete a message is click on the message (this will highlight it), then press the Delete key on your keyboard.

Note: If you prefer, you can right-click on the message then click on Delete Message in the menu that comes up, or you can click on the message, then click on the Delete button.

  1. Your deleted message will appear crossed out and will change color. (This is equivalent to moving a message to the trash in Netscape.)

Note: Instead of moving to the Trash folder, your deleted messages will remain in the same folder. There is no need to move them to the Trash folder.

Undeleting messages

While a  message is crossed out you can undelete it at any time.

  1. Simply right-click on the message, then click on Undelete.

Permanently deleting (purging) messages

While messages are crossed out they are still taking up quota space. They will continue to take up space until you permanently delete (purge) them.

  1. To purge messages, click on Edit, then click on Purge Deleted Messages.

Note: This will purge all of the crossed out messages in that folder.

Note: When a message is purged, it is completely, irrevocably deleted.
