WORKING OFFLINE IN MOZILLA: GOING OFFLINE

  1. To go offline while using Mozilla Mail, click on the little plug icon in the left-hand bottom corner of the Mail  screen.
  1. A window will pop up asking if you want to download your messages for offline use. If you do, click on the Download button. (If you don't, you won't be able to open any of your messages while you're offline).
  1. You?ll notice the plug icon in the left corner at the bottom of your screen now appears "unplugged."

While You are in Offline Mode
Now, even though you are offline, you will be able to access and work with files that are in the folders you selected. You can also write a whole batch of messages. When you are finished composing each one, simply click on the Send later button.

Note: Although each message will disappear when you click on the send later button, they will all be sent at once when you go online again.

Note: You will be able to use your personal address book while working offline, but you won't be able to use the Georgetown Address Book Directory.

Note: There is a difference between working offline and being disconnected. If your remote access connection times-out while you're working offline, you'll have to reconnect before you can go online again. Remember, the whole purpose of setting things up to work offline is so you can be productive even when you aren't connected. There's no need to reconnect until you want to update files, send messages, or check for new mail.

You've now made your files available offline, see Going Back Online.
