Moving Messages

Server vs. Local storage

You can save your mail on the GUMail IMAP server, or you can save your mail locally (see
Understanding Local Mail if you want to learn more about this).

Your Inbox is stored on mail server. Other folders for mail stored on the GUMail server appear under @imap.georgetown.edu.

Creating Folders

  1. Click on the plus (+) button at the bottom of the folders panel, then click on New Mailbox.
  1. This will bring up the New Mailbox panel.
  1. Beside Location, click on the up/down arrows and choose if this will be a local folder, or if you want it to be on the server.

  1. Give your mailbox a name, then click on the OK button.

Moving Messages

  1. To move a message from one mailbox to another, just click on the message and drag it to wherever you want it to go.
