Using smart groups

  • The smart groups tool can automatically sort your address cards into groups for you.

  • You will chose a particular term to search for and then the tool will create a group that includes all the address cards that contain your selected term.

  • This tool give you great flexibility in choosing what term you want to search for.

  • In this example, we'll add a search term in the Notes field of the cards.
  1. Open the card of a person you want to include in this group (or create a new card).

  1. In the Note field, type a term that your Smart Group can search for.

  1. Click on the Edit button to save your changes.
  1. Repeat this practice, and add the same term to all the cards you want included in this group.
  1. Click on the button with the gear on it, then click on New Smart Group.
  1. Give your group a name.

  1. Under match the following, select Note, and contains, then type in your term.

  1. Then click on the OK button.

Note: The term is not case sensitive: gribco, GRIBCO, or GrIbCo would all work.

  1. Your new smart group will appear and it will automatically contain all the cards that have your search term.
