How to use Entourage X with GUMail: Configuring Entourage

  1. Install Entourage X from the Microsoft Office X CD, then click on the Entourage icon to start it up.

 

  1. When the setup assistant comes up, click on the red dot to close it.
  1. You'll be asked if you're sure you want to close the assistant. You are quite sure; click on the Close button.
  1. Click on the Mail tab, then click on the New button.
  1. When the Account Setup Assistant comes up, click on the Configure account manually button.
  1. This will bring up the New Account panel.
  1. Beside Account type, click on the up/down arrow and click on IMAP.

 

  1. Then click on the OK button.
  1. This will bring up the Edit Account panel.

  1. Beside Account name:, type GUMail.

 

  1. Beside Name:, type your name (as you want it to appear in your e-mail).

 

  1. Beside E-mail Address:, type your georgetown e-mail address.

 

  1. Beside Account ID, type your University NetID.

 

  1. Beside incoming IMAP Server, type imap.georgetown.edu

 

  1. Click on the Click here for advanced receiving options button.
  1. Click on This IMAP service requires a secure connection (SSL) (a checkmark should appear beside it).

 

  1. Click on the little gray square in the upper left-hand corner to close the panel.
  1. Beside incoming SMTP Server, type smtp.georgetown.edu

 

  1. Click on the Click here for advanced sending options button.
  1. Make sure the following options are checked and set:
  • SMTP service requires secure connection (SSL) should be checked.
  • Override default SMTP port should be checked.
  • Beside Override default SMTP port, type 465 as the port number.
  • SMTP server requires authentication
    should be checked.
  • Click on Use Same settings as receiving mail server.
  1. When all the options are set, click on the little gray square in the upper left-hand corner to close the panel.
  1. This will bring up the Enter Password panel. Type your NetID password, then click on the OK button.
