UIS Leadership Team
Christopher L. Parkin
Assistant Director, Production Services
Network and Computing Services
A 1980 graduate of Dartmouth College with a B.A. in Physics, Chris came to Georgetown University in 1985, after a stint as a (civilian) systems programmer in the United States Army Computer Systems Command. In prior positions at GU, he has worked on, and managed, a variety of network- and computing-related teams within University Information Services.
Chris?s current leadership efforts are focused on the incremental improvement of production services operations toward a stable, reliable, efficient production environment supportive of the UIS mission and goals. His team, Production Services, has four divisions: Operations, Application Services, Program Services and Quality Assurance. The Operations division manages GU?s primary data centers and monitors all of GU?s networks and most of its servers. The other three divisions, in addition to directly supporting Operations, act as liaisons to other UIS departments and to the university at large to define and shape the mission of Network and Computing Services - Production Services (NCS-PS).
Chris is a native of the DC metropolitan area. He lives near downtown Silver Spring in the house that his family has owned since 1950. Chris and his wife take great delight in their two children, who are also incrementally improving.
