Kevin Murphy

Deputy Chief Information Officer

Kevin Murphy assumed the role of Deputy CIO for University Information Services beginning in 2003. As Deputy CIO, Kevin brings together the operational aspects of the department, ensuring collaboration and efficacy across the divisions of University Information Services. He also works with University leadership in the management of operations and strategic planning for shared information services. Collaborating with senior University leadership, Kevin works on strategic planning and project management methods that are adapted to meet the diverse needs of the University. He also focuses on developing planning mechanisms to serve as a forum for dialogue and priority setting for technology investments across the University's diverse constituent groups.


Before becoming Deputy CIO, Kevin served as the Director of Information Systems. He successfully led the University's Y2K preparation and was responsible for the planning and implementation of the University's first ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) projects. Kevin also served as the Director of Technical Strategy at Georgetown University's Medical Center, concentrating on development of a technology plan for clinical research and the Georgetown Hospital. Kevin was recruited to Georgetown in 1996 from Children's National Medical Center in Washington DC where he worked for ten years, his last position being Director of Information Technology. Before his tenure at Children's National Medical Center, he held diverse technology positions in both the public and private sector.
