Ardoth Hassler
Associate Vice President for University Information Services
Named Associate Vice President in 1998, Ardoth Hassler has been at Georgetown since May 1995. She came to GU from Catholic University where she was Executive Director of Computing. Prior to that, she was at the University of Central Oklahoma and the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center.
Ardoth was on loan to the National Science Foundation 2007-2011. She served as Senior Information Technology Advisor in the Office of the Chief Information Officer in the NSF Office of Information and Resource Management, Division of Information Systems. Her activities included work related to cybersecurity best practices for large research facilities, working on technology policy for the Foundation and large research facilities, assisting NSF in joining the InCommon Federation and introducing single-sign-on logon to Research.gov, leading the "SSN Be Gone" project to remove SSNs from FastLane and other systems where was no business need, working on NSF?s "Got Green" initiative, as well as other important projects. In 2009 and 2010, she received "Director's Awards" for her work with the "Got Green" team.
Ardoth's work at Georgetown has most recently been focused on Information Security, support of research, technology policy and planning. She serves as a member of the Provost's Council, the Dahlgren Library Advisory Committee, and the Faculty Library Advisory Committee for the Georgetown University Library.
Active with academic IT organizations across the country, Ardoth currently serves on the InCommon Steering Committee, the InCommon Research Administration working group, and the EDUCAUSE Safeguarding Research Data project team. She previously served on the Coordinating Board for Seminars on Academic Computing; served on and chaired conference program committees of EDUCAUSE and EDUCOM, respectively; and served on EDUCAUSE and CAUSE recognition and nominations working committees.
Ardoth holds a B.S. degree in Mathematics from Oklahoma State University and an M.S. in Biostatistics from the University of Oklahoma.
