Academic and Information Technology Services
Beth Ann Bergsmark is responsible for the Academic and Information Technology Services (AITS) group within UIS. AITS provides services to encourage, empower, support, and unite the Georgetown University community in its use of information technology. The unit includes the HelpDesk and desktop support services, online/print publications and documentation, the NetID Office, Hoya Computing, student computing support, classroom technology support, the faculty and staff replacement cycle, and the technology-training program.
Beth Ann's career in technology at Georgetown began in the Academic Computing Center as an instructional technology and training specialist in the early 1990s. Outside of Georgetown, she has served on the EDUCAUSE and Seminars on Academic Computing (SAC) program committees, and has presented at EDUCOM (EDUCAUSE), SAC, Association for Applied Interactive Multimedia (AAIM), and ACM Special Interest Group on University and College Computing Services conferences on topics connected to providing technology support in a changing technological and academic environment.
Beth Ann teaches advanced photography courses (Photo II, III, IV) as an adjunct faculty member with the Department of Art, Music & Theater at GU. She has also taught courses such as Photo I, Individual Problems, and Advanced Color Photography at George Washington University since 1998. She holds a B.A. in Political Science and a Terminal M.F.A. in Fine Arts/Photography from George Washington University. Her artwork explores the boundaries between abstraction and realism defined by space, time, and light in color photography and mixed media.
