Slow Network Connection: Setting Internet Explorer Cache on a PC

Internet Explorer stores copies of frequently used Internet files in a special folder called a cache. Storing these copies helps some Web pages load faster, but if your cache becomes too full, it will actually slow down your connection instead of speeding it up.

Cleaning out temporary Internet files and setting the cache size in Internet Explorer

  1. Start Internet Explorer.
  1. Clickon Tools, then Clickon Internet Options.
  1. This will bring up the Internet Optionswindow.
  1. Clickon the Generaltab.
  1. Clickon the Delete Files...button.
  1. Then Clickon the Settingsbutton.
  1. Make sure Disk Cacheis set no larger than about 20 MB.
  1. Clickon the OKbutton.
