Returning Your Media AdapterResnet media adapter equipment is due back to UIS before the end of the school year. If you borrowed a media adapter set, you must return the adapter, orange fiber cable, and power adapter to UIS in good working order no later than 5 p.m. on Monday, May 24, 2010. If you do not return your adapter or return it damaged, you will be charged for it. See our return reference page (NetID login required) for pictures of examples of equipment in good condition and broken equipment that will result in charges. Return HoursYou should return your adapter to the UIS Service Desk in G-39 St. Mary's Hall during our business hours. Academic year hours will continue through the end of exams.
Some residence halls and apartments (New South, Harbin, Village A, Alumni Square, and Nevils) use fiber optic technology for Internet connections that require an adapter between a computer's Ethernet connection and the data jack. The adapter enables students in these residences to connect their computers to the Georgetown network. Mailing Your Adapter Do not leave your adapter at the UIS Service Desk when it is closed. If you are unable to return your adapter to the UIS Service Desk when it is open, either during normal business hours or during the above mentioned additional return hours, you may mail it in. Mail your adapter to the following address: Media Adapter Returns When you mail in your adapter, please include a note with your name and NetID. If you return your adapter by mail, you should have it insured (value is $100). (UPS, FedEx, and USPS each offer shipping insurance.) Important: To avoid being charged $100, we must receive your adapter by May 31, 2010. If you do not return your adapter in person, you cannot dispute any charges. Check Your Media Adapter NumberAll students who borrowed a media adapter set were sent an e-mail reminder to return the equipment. Please check that the media adapter number, located on the bottom of the adapter, matches the number in your e-mail reminder. If you didn't receive or have already deleted the reminder, you can check your record online. If the numbers do not match, make sure that you have not switched adapters with a roommate or friend at some point during the year. Charges for Damaged and Unreturned AdaptersIf you fail to return the adapter originally checked out to you or if the equipment you return is damaged, you will be charged:
Charges will be posted to your PAETEC Hoyanet Services account. Renewing Your Adapter for the SummerIf you are staying on campus during the summer in a dorm where media adapters are needed, you may renew your adapter online. Seniors may not renew adapters. If you have any questions, you can contact the UIS Student Helpdesk at (202) 687-4577 or at techhelp @ georgetown.edu, or just stop by the UIS Service Desk in St. Mary's G-39. |
