Working Offline with Netscape 4.7: Setting synchronization preferences

Note: The Netscape 4.7 web browser is out-of-date and is not capable of accessing many of today's more secure websites. UIS no longer distributes Netscape  4.7. These pages are maintained as a service for those who already use Netscape 4.7 and wish to continue doing so. If you are using Netscape 7, you should see Working Offline with Netscape 7.

Synchronizing allows you to download e-mail folders you might need while working offline. The instructions below will show you how to define which folders you want synchronized. Then, when you need to work offline, you simply tell Netscape to make your e-mail files available for offline use, and move into offline mode. By working in offline mode, you won't need to worry about your connection expiring. You can reconnect whenever you are ready.

When you are in Netscape 4.7, the program should be basically the same in all PC and Mac environments. Some screens and icons may look slightly different, but the instructions will remain the same. If you are using Netscape 7, you should see Working Offline with Netscape 7.

  1. Decide which folders and directories you will be working with. Beside each folder you will see a little dot in the Download column.
  1. Click on the little dots beside the folders you need. When you click on them, the dots will turn into checkmarks.
