How to use Oracle Calendar: Looking People Up in the Directory

Use these same steps when looking up someone's agenda or when adding someone to a meeting or event.

If you know the person's full name
If more than one person has the same full name
If you know only the person's last name
Refining your search

If you know the person's full name

  1. Type the person's full name in the box beside the magnifying glass.

  1. Click on the OK button.

Note: Don't use multiple initials or two-part names. (For example: H Lambert will work, but H. David Lambert will not; Beth Bergsmark will work, but Beth Ann Bergsmark will not.

If more than one person has the same full name

Now and then, you may come across common names (e.g., William Anderson) that are shared by more than one person. In this case, you will see a list of all the GUCalendar users who have that full name.

  1. To tell these people apart, you can set your preferences to show people's departments (see Displaying departments).

If you know only the person's last name

  1. Type the person's last name in the box beside the magnifying glass.

  1. Click on the OK button.

  1. This will bring up a list of the first 100 GUCalendar users who have that last name.

  1. If necessary, use the up and down arrows to scroll through the list until you find the person you want.

  1. Click on the person's name to highlight it.

  1. Then click on the OK button.

Note: If your person isn't in this list of the first 100 users, you will need to refine your search. Click on the Cancel button. See refining your search for instructions.

If you don't know how to spell the person's last name

  1. Type the first few letters of the person's last name in the box beside the magnifying glass.

  1. Then click on the OK button.

  1. This will bring up a list of the first 100 GUCalendar users whose last names begin with these letters.

  1. If necessary, use the up and down arrows to scroll through the list until you find the person you want.

  1. Click on the person's name to highlight it. Then click on the OK button.

Note: If your person isn't in this list of the first 100 users, you will need to refine your search. Click on the Cancel button. See refining your search for instructions.
