Purpose
Charter
The University Information Services Advisory Committee is convened by and acts under the authority of the Senior Vice President. The primary function of the University Information Services Advisory Committee is to advise the Senior Vice President and the Chief Information Officer on Information Services concerns, including review of Information Services policies, programs and proposals.
The University Information Services Advisory Committee:
- Provides insight on Information Services matters as informed by their perspective as representatives of varied functional areas of the University
- Ensures that the concerns of all constituencies are adequately addressed in Information Services policies.
Jurisdiction
The University Information Services Advisory Committee will review and advise on matters of Information Services, based on the following:
- Review of proposed policies, programs, or proposals as they affect the University as a whole not only the members? own constituencies;
- Consideration of proposed policies, programs, or proposals in light of relevant legal and regulatory requirements;
- Advise the Senior Vice President and the Chief Information Officer on whether to approve proposed policies, programs, or proposals, or whether further revision is recommended.
Membership
In addition to the Associate Vice President for Special Projects, Chief Audit Executive and the Chief Information Officer as ex-officio members, the University Information Services Advisory Committee will consist of the following stakeholder members:

Role of a University Information Services Advisory Committee member
It is intended that the University Information Services Advisory Committee leverage the experiences, expertise, and insight of key individuals throughout the University. University Information Services Advisory Committee members are not directly responsible for final approval of policies, programs, or proposals, but provide guidance for those who are. Thus, individually, members should:
- Understand the implications and outcomes of Information Services matters;
- Appreciate the significance of these matters for some or all major stakeholders;
- Advocate for broad support for the policies, programs, and proposals as they are implemented;
- Have a broad understanding of Information Services issues at the University.
In practice, this means that they:
- Assess the impact of proposed policies , programs, or proposals as they affect not only the members? own business processes but those of the University as a whole;
- Review the proposed policies, programs, or proposals, including in that review such factors as impact on other policies and legal and regulatory requirements;
- Identify areas that require clarification;
- Provide guidance to the Chief Information Officer regarding the content of the proposals;
- Participate in the formulation of a recommendation to the Senior Vice President and the Chief Information Officer with regard to approval.
University Information Services Advisory Committee Meetings
Meeting Schedule and Process
The Committee will meet on an ad hoc basis, as items are proposed for review, but at a minimum quarterly.
The Chief Information Officer and the Associate Vice President for Special Projects co-chair and convene the University Information Services Advisory Committee.
Arrangements may be made for members to participate by telephone. No provision has been made for alternates.
