How to install Web Delivered HostExplorer |

Before you begin, close any documents and exit any programs that are open on your computer. |

- Click Start (this will bring up a menu), then click Programs (this will bring up another menu), then click Internet Explorer (this will launch Internet Explorer).

- Type http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com as the URL. Press Enter after typing.
|

- Follow the instructions on the page to scan your computer for updates and install all critical updates. You may have to restart your computer several times to obtain all of the critical updates.

|
- When you are finished installing all critical updates, start Internet Explorer again.
|

- Click the Tools menu, then click Internet Options . . . (this will bring up the Internet Options window).

|
- Click the Security tab. Make sure that you have your security level set to Medium-low (you can increase this after you run the web delivered HostExplorer installation). Click OK.

|
- Type http://www3.georgetown.edu/uis/administrativeapplications/mainframeaccess/hummingbird/SSLGUMVS.htm as the URL. Press Enter when you are done typing (this will begin the installation).

- A prompt will appear to install ActiveX control on the screen. Click on the message to install the control.

- A pop-up window will appear asking for permission to install Hummingbird files. Click Install. If you already have a full version of HostExplorer installed (either 7.0, 7.1, or 8.0) you will not be allowed to install web delivered HostExplorer.

|
- The installer program will run in Internet Explorer, and may take a few minutes. Below is a sample of what you should see while web delivered HostExplorer is installing.

|
|

|
|
- After all of the files are installed, web delivered HostExplorer will connect to the mainframe.
|
|
|

|
|
- You may now add this page to your favorites in Internet Explorer. Whenever you return to the page, it will connect you to the mainframe.
