HOW TO USE HUMMINGBIRD HOSTEXPLORER 8.0: UNINSTALL HOSTEXPLORER 7.1

  1. Which version am I using?

  2. Uninstall old HostExplorer

  3. Install HostExplorer 8.0

  4. Install SSL add-on

  5. Set up HostExplorer 8.0

Uninstall HostExplorer 7.1

You must uninstall HostExplorer 7.1 before you can use HostExplorer 8.0. Because some files from the HostExplorer 7.1 install CD are required to uninstall HostExplorer 7.0, you will need the HostExplorer CD from Hoya Computing.

After you uninstall HostExplorer 7.1, select your method of installing HostExplorer 8.0:

I will use HostExplorer over the web.

I will install HostExplorer 8.0 from a CD.

How to uninstall HostExplorer 7.1

Before you begin, close any documents and exit any programs that are open on your computer. Make sure you have the HostExplorer CD from Hoya Computing.

  1. Click the Start button. (This will bring up a menu.) Click Settings. (This will bring up another menu.) Click Control Panel (This will open the Control Panel window).

  1. Double Click the Add/Remove Programs icon. (This will open the Add/Remove Programs dialogue box).

  1. Click to select Hummingbird HostExplorer (the programs are in alphabetical order). Then click the Add/Remove... button (this will start the uninstall program).

  1. Click Yes when asked if you want to remove Hummingbird HostExplorer from your computer (this will start the removal process).
Sure to Remove?
  1. When HostExplorer 7.1 has been removed you will be taken back to the Add/Remove programs window.  It is recommended that you restart your computer.  After you restart, be sure to return to install HostExplorer 8.0 from CD or use HostExplorer over the Web.
