HOW TO USE HUMMINGBIRD HOSTEXPLORER 8.0: INSTALLING THE SSL ADD ON

  1. Which version am I using?

  2. Uninstall old HostExplorer

  3. Install HostExplorer 8.0

  4. Install SSL add-on

  5. Set up HostExplorer 8.0

Install Hummingbird HostExplorer 8.0 SSL add-on

After installing the main HostExplorer application, you must also install the SSL add-on.  This is the portion that will provide security for your mainframe transactions.  After you have installed the add-on, remember to configure HostExplorer 8.0.

After you install HostExplorer 8.0 and the SSL add-on, you will need to continue by setting up the software:

Setup HostExplorer 8.0.

You will need the HostExplorer CD from Hoya Computing to install HostExplorer 8.0 and the SSL add-on.

How to install HostExplorer 8.0 SSL add-on

Before you begin, close any documents and exit any programs that are open on your computer. Make sure you have the HostExplorer CD from Hoya Computing.

  1. Insert the Hummingbird HostExplorer 8.0 CD from Hoya Computing in your computer's CD drive.
  1. Double click the My Computer icon on your desktop. (This will open the My Computer window).

  1. Double click the CD drive icon (this will open the window for your CD).

  1. Double click the SSL folder (this will open the SSL window).

  1. Locate the HumSSLAdd-on_Strong.exe file. Double click the HumSSLAdd-on_Strong.exe file to start the setup program.  The program will run quickly and you will see an Installation completed successfully. dialog box. Click OK.

  1. You have successfully added SSL Strong encryption to your HostExplorer 8.0.  You may now continue to Setup HostExplorer 8.0.
