HOW TO USE HUMMINGBIRD HOSTEXPLORER 8.0: SET UP HOSTEXPLORER 8.0

  1. Which version am I using?

  2. Uninstall old HostExplorer

  3. Install HostExplorer 8.0

  4. Install SSL add-on

  5. Set up HostExplorer 8.0

Set up HostExplorer 8.0

This is the final stage of the HostExplorer 8.0 installation.  You must first tell the HostExplorer 8.0 software where to locate the mainframe.  Then, you must add in the ports for the mainframe applications you are using.

  1. Click Start, then Programs, then Hummingbird Connectivity v8.0, then HostExplorer, then 3270 (the Open Session window will appear).

  1. Double click Default 3270 (this will open the HostExplorer window).
  1. You will receive an error message because you are unable to connect.  Click OK.

  1. Click Edit, then click options. This will open the session profile window.

  1. Click the plus (+) sign next to "Connection", then click 3270 (the 3270 options panel will appear on the right).

  1. Double-click sslgumvs.georgetown.edu in the "Hosts:" field (this will open the Edit Host Info window).
  1. Enter 2323 in the "TCP port:" field. Click OK.  This is the port number for SIS+, Genesys, and TMS. If you use other mainframe applications please consult the chart below.

  1. If you use more than one mainframe application, you may have to add another host.  Click the Add New Host button to do so.  Type sslgumvs.georgetown.edu as the host name, and the port number for your application as the TCP port.
  1. Click the plus (+) sign next to Security, then click General (this will open the General Security panel).
  1. Click the radio button next to SSL/TLS.
  1. Click the plus (+) sign next to Keyboard, then click General (this will open the General Keyboard panel).

 

  1. Uncheck the box next to Ignore NumLock State.
  1. Click OK.
  1. On the Default 3270 window, click the X to close your session and then click Yes.
  1. Repeat steps 1 and 2 on this page to launch HostExplorer 8.0.
